Winemaking Notes
Made from our estate grown fruit, after handpicking on 2nd March 2023, the grapes were whole bunch crushed then pressed. The juice produced was then placed directly into stainless steel tanks and the fermentation was carried out by natural yeast. The wine was aged in tank for 7 months with lees stirring periodically to enhance texture and complexity.
Food Matching
This wine is excellent with shellfish, crudités, poultry or goat cheese and a crisp mixed salad.
Halliday Wine Companion: Rutherglen fiano is a grape to watch. Vine age is kicking in and so is the intensity and concentration of flavour in pear, spice, apple, hints of wild herbs and a touch of savoury, preserved lemon and almond that excites the tastebuds. Texture is there, flavour too, with lively acidity and length to finish. Mighty tasty. 92 Points. Jeni Port 07 August 2024.
