2022 Jones Winery & Vineyard Malbec

With its seductive deep, crimson colour and notes of toasted fennel seeds, choc mint and dark fruits, this wine is complex and enticing. Rich and savoury with lingering fruit flavours and chalky tannins make this one a pleasure to drink.

Winemaking Notes
Made from grapes grown in our 19-year old vineyard. The grapes were fermented in open vats, hand-plunged then pressed. Malolactic fermentation and maturation in barrel then fined with egg white prior to bottling. The wine was matured for 12 months in oak barrels, 60% of which was new French oak.
Food Matching
Great with duck, cassoulet, game and braised red meat dishes. Try with beef ribs grilled on the BBQ.
Halliday Wine Companion :"The '22 Rutherglen vintage was cooler than average and it has undoubtedly impacted this malbec. It's tight, acid-bright and structurally firm, and will benefit from a decant or some swishes of air before enjoying. The usual varietal malbec charms are a little subdued in red fruits, blueberry, black cherry, sage, baking spices and vanilla pod. Give it a good swish and let those spices sing. Finishes perky in tannin, and dry." 90 Points Jeni Port July 2025
