Produced only in outstanding vintages, L.J. captures the essence of our terroir ( in our 1905 Block) and the unique conditions of each hearvest. L.J. is renowed for its richness, complexity, well-defined structure and a finish marked by firm refined tannins.
Tasting Notes
Deep, crimson in colour with lovely richness and fullness of flavour. It has savoury notes, deep red fruit, supported by subtle oak with strong, spicy, savoury tannins on the finish.. Drink now or after 5-20 years. Great ageing potential. Another classic L.J.
Winemaking Notes
Made from grapes grown in our vineyard planted in 1905. The Shiraz and handful of Grenache (< 5%) grapes were harvested by hand on 10th March 2022, yielding less than 1 tonne per hectare. After de-stemming, it was fermented in our 1860's open wooden vats, hand-plunged then pressed. Maturation in barrel then fined with egg white prior to bottling. The wine was matured for 14 months in oak barrels, 55% of which was new French oak. Alc. 12.8%, cellaring 5 to 15 years.

This wine marries perfectly with lamb, game and slow cooked beef dishes. A delight with hard cheeses.
